Politics, Governance, and Action

Steve Fontana

From national and international crises to problems in our own communities, it’s hard to figure out what’s going on and what we can do about them. Add in the increasingly frustrating behavior of the media, and our polarized, hyperpartisan political environment, and it’s even more difficult to figure out whom and what to believe. This course will examine the latest political issues, from terrorism to climate change, to health care reform to the Presidential campaign, and focus on what we, as individuals, members of our local communities and society at large can do to affect public policy and effect change. Participants also will have an opportunity to raise issues of their choosing for discussion.

Steve served as a CT State Representative from 1997 to 2011.
